Forest of Evil

Part 1

[On a cloudy rainy day, Vlad was seen in his bedroom, looking out the window in boredom]

Vlad: (thinking) {So boring... I wish it could stop raining. So I could go outside and play...}

[The polar bear yawns and places both hands against his face as he stares outside the window. Watching the rain drops as they hit the window, Vladimir was so bored, that his eyes began to close from fatigue. As he dozed off, he day dreamed about being inflated like a balloon with Spike, Exile, Thief, Talon, Fang, and Claw on a bright sunny day. Until suddenly, he was awakened by the sound of Jasper's voice]

Jasper: Vladimir... Vladimir... VLADIMIR!

Vlad: (snort) Huh?!

[Vladimir looks at Jasper]

Jasper: What are you doing?

Vlad: Jasper... Comrade... I was just... Bored...

Jasper: Then why you go find Akito and hang out with her?

Vlad: Oh... Okay.

[Vlad gets off his seat, and goes downstairs to see Akito, who was reading Little Red Riding Hood with Prowl in the library]

Prowl: And so, Little Red Riding Hood was able to adopt Johnny as a member of the family. They took him back to their cottage where he received the greatest treatment that he could only dream of. He was cared for, loved, respected, and no longer was he alone. Whenever breakfast, lunch, or dinner was served, he would always be welcomed to eat with the family. As fate would have it, the little girl and the wolf became the best of friends. In fact, as time went on, they had developed such a strong and powerful bond with one another that they became like brother and sister. But the best part of all, was that Johnny was forever grateful and indebted to Little Red Riding Hood for saving his life and for giving him a place he could call home. And everybody, especially Johnny the wolf, lived happily ever after.

Akito: For some reason, this version of Red Riding Hood kind of reminds of my relationship with Master Fenrir.

Prowl: Doesn't it, now?

Akito: Yes. Because of Red's bond with Johnny. It's just so touching.

Prowl: Hmmm... Yes, I do see how Red and Johnny's relation is similar to your relation with Fenrir. One is human, the other is a wolf, yet they both love each other as family.

Akito: Exactly! Oh, hello Vlad.

Vlad: (waves) Hello, Akito. Hello, Prowl.

Prowl: Vlad! What brings you down here to the library?

Vlad: Well... It's raining outside and... I'm so bored...

Prowl: I know what you mean, Vlad. Rainy days can be horribly boring. But I think I know just the remedy for that. How would you like to join me and Akito on reading?

Akito: Yeah! I was going to make the same offer!

Vlad: (smiles) I'd love that very much!

Prowl: Okay then. Let's see if we can find you a book that you would enjoy reading.

Akito: There's a vast selection of books to choose from, Vlad. This is one BIG library after all.

Vladimir: There are so many choices, where do I start?

Prowl: Well now let's see... We have Dracula, written by Bram Stoker, Frankenstein my Marry Shelly, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, Harry Potter by R.K Rowling, etc.

Vlad: Nyet. I read all those books last year.

Akito: Hmmm... Well then, we'll have to start with something fresh and new. Let's look in the F-Section.

[The three search around in the F section of the massive library. And they continue searching for a book for Vlad. All of a sudden, the polar bear comes across something that interests him]

Vlad: Hey! What's this? [Vlad takes out a book, with the title "Forest of Evil" written on the front cover] Forest of Evil?

Akito: Never saw that book before.

Prowl: Do you know where it came from?

Akito: No. Not a clue. It doesn't look like any book that I'm familiar with.

Vlad: Can we read this one? I really want to see what this is about!

[Akito and Prowl look at each other. And then to Vlad]

Akito: Okay, Vlad. I mean after all, it's good to get into something new every now and then. Right, Prowl?

Prowl: Of course. Let's start reading.

Vlad: Oh goodie! [And so Akito, Prowl and Vlad find themselves a table and a few seats, and they begin reading the book titled "Forest of Evil"] Our story begins in the year 1500 AD, during a time when mankind was still at odds with each other.

[Suddenly, a creepy sinister narration is heard]

Narration: This is a dark age... When an unspeakable evil force has ruled the land...

Akito: What was that?

Prowl: I... I don't know...

Vlad: I heard it too... It sound like spooky creepy voice...

Akito: Where is it coming from?

Vlad: I don't know... You don't suppose...

Prowl: It's the book...

Narration: Yes, that's right, my friends. I'm the narrator. And now that you have opened this book, you must complete it. There's no going back now.

Akito: Okay, we'll read it all the way.

Narration: Now... Continuing on... Our three heroes find themselves wondering the Forest... The dreaded Forest of Evil... Where they struggle desperately for their lives day and night... Against all the ghastly horrors that await them...

Vlad: Huh?

[Suddenly, Akito, Prowl, and Vladimir are transported from the real world into the book. Next thing they know, they find themselves in a dark and desolate forest at night, with a strange fog in the air]

Prowl: Well, that was unexpected.

Vlad: Wow... This place looks spooky...

[An owl is heard hooting]

Akito: I don't like this.

Vlad: I'm scared...

[Owls hooting]

Prowl: There's something out there... I can sense it...

Akito: I can sense it too.

[Suddenly, a loud shrieking noise is heard, which startles Vladimir. The frightened polar bear jumps into Prowl's arms]

Prowl: UGH! Vlad!

Vlad: (whimpers)

Akito: Shhh! Quiet!

[Suddenly, three shadowy figures emerge out of the darkness and attack]

Prowl: Whoa!

Akito: I got this!

Vlad: But... They're so fast!

[The shadows advance on the group]

Akito: Not faster than light. Luminous!

[Akito brightens up the area, and Vlad and Prowl shield their eyes. The shadows cannot take the intense light, and they vanish as the light intensifies]

Vladimir: Are they gone?

Prowl: I guess so... They're nowhere in sight.

[The three look around, and see a hand spring out of the water]

Akito: What?

Vlad: What's that?

[The hand emerges, and out comes a decomposed reanimated corpse]

Prowl: It's... It's a zombie!

Akito: And it’s not the only one! There's more of them over there!

[Akito points in one direction, and the group sees more zombies emerging from the ground before them]

Vladimir: What do we do?

Prowl: Only one thing we can do; run!

Akito: Agreed. Come on, this way!

[The three race through the woods in their desperate attempt to avoid the zombies chasing them. The zombies were fast, and their numbers were growing. They seemed to be everywhere]

Vlad: Where did all these zombies come from?

Prowl: That's not important! Keep running!

Akito: We got to lose them somehow!

Prowl: But how?

Akito: I got it! Vladimir, ice the floor!

Vlad: Okay! Got it!

[Vladimir charges his ice power, and slams his fists to the floor, freezing the floor]

Akito: Now for the next phase.

[She uses her magic and creates skates for her, Prowl, and Vladimir]

Vlad and Prowl: Skates?

Akito: Would you two rather slip and fall?

[Prowl and Vlad look at each other, and then at Akito]

Prowl and Vlad: No...

Akito: Then start skating!

[Prowl grabs Akito, and holds her in his arms]

Prowl: Okay, here we go! One! Two! Three!

[Prowl and Vlad skate on the ice as best as they could, and did their best not to slip and fall. And they had to avoid the trees that were in the way. They avoided the first row of trees with ease]

Vladimir: I think we're getting it!

[Suddenly, Vlad slips and falls on his behind, and runs into Prowl. They all slide on their backs as they spin around out of control]

Akito: Whoa!

Prowl: Hang on!

Vladimir: Okay!

[The polar bear grabs the gator and the girl in his grip as they continue sliding down the hillside]

Akito: This would be fun if we weren't in danger!

[Finally, they reach the end of the hillside, and they roll all the way down the valley. Vlad was slightly dazed, and Prowl received a few bruises]

Vlad: Oh...

Prowl: Ugh...

Vlad: (shakes head) Comrade! You okay?

Prowl: Yeah, just bruised a little.

[Vladimir checks Prowl's knee, and sees an injury]

Vlad: Prowl! You're hurt!

Prowl: I'll be okay... Wait! Where's Akito?

Akito: I'm right here.

[They see Akito, unscathed but dirty]

Vlad: Akito! Are you okay?

[Vlad races over to Akito, and kneels down to her side]

Akito: I'm fine. A little dirty, but fine. (gasps) Prowl!

Vlad: Prowl is hurt his leg badly...

Prowl: Ugh... It... It's nothing...

Akito: That isn't nothing. Let me heal it.

[Prowl shows Akito his injured leg, and then she uses her magic to heal its injury. The wound disappears]

Prowl: Thank you, Aki.

Akito: Thank me later. We still have company.

Vlad: You... You don't mean...

[Suddenly, more zombies emerged from the ground]

Prowl: We're in trouble...

Akito: We have no choice but to fight them! Come on guys!

Zombies: (groans)

Akito: Come at me, you rotting corpses!

[The zombies advance towards the heroes and prepare to attack]

Prowl: FIGHT!

[Akito fires rapid energy orbs at undead causing them to explode]

Akito: Rest in peace!

[Vladimir charges up his ice powers, and fires a wave that freezes the zombies in their tracks. Then he uses his brute strength to shatter them to pieces. Prowl uses his sheer strength to tear the undead zombies to shreds, and even makes use of his tail to whack some of them away]

Prowl: They're not so tough.

Vlad: Da. They were quite easy.

Akito: Wait... Something's not right...

Prowl: What is it?

[The group look around them, and notice the trees with glowing red eyes staring them down]

Vlad: Comrades... I think we’re in trouble...

Prowl: The trees... They're looking at us...

Vlad: Reminds me of Mortal Kombat!

Akito: Not now, Vlad! This is serious! Those trees are looking at us like we're dinner!

[The trees lunge their branches at the heroes. And two of them grab Vlad and Prowl]

Prowl: Let go!

Vlad: HELP!

Akito: Hang on, guys!

[The trees open their mouths and prepare to devour Prowl and Vlad. But Akito summons her magic, and casts a spell that causes the trees to freeze up]

Prowl: Whew. That was close.

Akito: Yeah. But come on! Let's get out of here before even the very air attacks us!

Prowl: Right. Come on, Vlad!

[The three race their way through the forest for their lives, hoping to escape from the zombies, ghouls, and other hazards lurking around in the forest. Meanwhile, back at the mansion, Fenrir noticed that Akito was missing. He searched the mansion for her. But she was nowhere to be found. He goes to check with Fluffy and Spot, who were cleaning dishes]

Fenrir: Fluffy, Spot. Have you guys seen Akito anywhere?

Spot: No, we haven’t. Did you check the library?

Fenrir: Well... No...

Fluffy: You know how she loves to read and all. So you should have no trouble finding her there.

Fenrir: Alright, I'll check there.

Fluffy: Hey, Spot... Do you think?

Spot: Nah, I'm sure she's just fine. She couldn't have gone far.

[Fenrir looks into the library]

Fenrir: Akito? Are you in here?[There was no answer. Fenrir became worried, and so he entered the library, and searched everywhere. Walking down the aisles of the vast library, he all of a sudden came across a strange green glow] Huh? What's that?

[Fenrir approached the green light and followed it to the source. And then he saw the book titled "Forest of Evil," resting on the table where Akito, Prowl, and Vlad were reading it. Suddenly Jasper, Joe, Typhoon, Serena, and Tozoku came in]

Joe: Hey! What's going on, mate?

Tozoku: Yeah! And... Where's that green glow coming from, eh?

Jasper: I think we should check it out.

Fenrir: It's coming from this book...

Jasper: A book? What's the title?

Fenrir: It says... Forest of Evil...?

Serena: I got an uneasy feeling and it has to do with that book.

Typhoon: How do you know that, Serena?

Serena: Because it has a demonic aura possessing it... I have a feeling... This book is cursed... Damned...

Typhoon: You don't think this book did something to Akito, Prowl, and Vladimir, do you?

Serena: I think it does, Typhoon. There's something supernatural about this book. And the only way to save them... Is to go into the book itself...

Jasper: How do we go into a book?

Fenrir: If my guess is correct... We'll have to open it... And read it...

Tozoku: Is that such a good idea?

Typhoon: What choice do we have, Tozoku? Our friends are in peril! And we have to save them! Even if it means risking our own lives!

Serena: Okay then. Let's get to it.

[Serena grabs the book, and opens it]

Fenrir: Start from chapter 1.

Serena: Our story begins in the year 1500 AD, during a time when mankind was still at odds with each other.

Narration: This is a dark age... When an unspeakable evil force has ruled the land...

Joe: Did you guys hear that?

Serena: Yes... I think we all did...

Fenrir: What was that?

Narrator: It was me... I'm the narrator of this book... And now that you have opened this book, you must complete it... There is no turning back now...

Joe: Uh oh… This is getting scary...

Tozoku: Yeah...

[Suddenly, the book glows green with its demonic aura, and the group are then warped to the dark and ghastly forest]

Fenrir: Wow! What a ride!

Tozoku: Where the heck are we?

Joe: Don't know, mate! But we sure aren't in Kansas anymore!

Serena: As the title of the book clearly said, we're in the forest of evil.

Typhoon: Sure doesn't look like a very pleasant place...

Fenrir: That's putting it mildly.

Joe: I think what you meant was... This looks like a place straight out of a bloody nightmare...

Fenrir: Come on, we got to find our friends and my pupil.

Tozoku: If we can find them... It's going to be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Serena: We have to try to find them, everybody. I have a feeling this is going to be a long and dangerous journey.

Joe: Oh boy...

Typhoon: We can handle it.

[The group wonders through the dark and eerie woods as the fog kicks in]

Tozoku: Fog. Just the kind of thing you'd expect to see in a horror story.

Fenrir: Now's not the time for jokes, Tozoku. We have to find our friends and Akito.

[Owls hooting]

Typhoon: I wonder what's out there...

Jasper: I don't want to think about it...

[Owls hooting]

Serena: Annoying owls.

[Suddenly, a tree branch grabs Joe's leg, and drags him off his feet]

Joe: AH! LET GO!

Everybody: Joe!

Joe: HELP!

[The branch draws Joe towards a living monster tree that roars at him. And then it prepares to devour him. But then Fenrir, Serena, and Typhoon come to his rescue]

Fenrir: Hang on, Joe!

[Fenrir lunges, and claws at the tree's eyes, blinding it. And then Typhoon uses his machete to cut the branch holding Joe. The kangaroo falls on his back to the ground]

Tozoku: You okay?

Joe: Ugh... Yeah, mate...

Fenrir: That was some tree...

Typhoon: It was a monster!

Serena: And there's more of them! Look!

[The group turns to see more monstrous trees glaring at them with red glowing eyes, and growling menacingly at them]

Joe: Mates? Should we fight? Or run?

Jasper: I think the logical thing to do is...RUN!

Fenrir: Good idea... [The group all start running as fast as they could as the trees attacked. The trees are heard groaning and roaring as they try to grab their victims with their extending branches] Don't look back! Keep going!

Tozoku: Don't got to tell us twice!

[Meanwhile, back with Akito, Prowl, and Vlad. They had just outran the dangers out in the woods for the time being, and have sought refuge in a cave]

Akito: You think we'll be safe in here?

Prowl: We'll only be safe here for a short while. But we can't stay here for long. But for now, this cave will have to do until we regain our strength.

Vlad: But I don't like it in here! It's so dark and spooky!

Prowl: Yes. But it's dark out there too, right?

Akito: He has a point, Vladimir.

Vlad: But I'm scared...

Prowl: We're all scared, Vlad. And until we can find out why we're here and how to get out of this hellhole, we're stuck here.

Vlad: I'm sorry, guys. I guess I shouldn't have read that book.

Akito: It's okay, Vlad. Nobody knows where that book came here or what it was doing in the library to begin with.

Prowl: But what we do know is that it's evil, and it has a consciousness of its own. It wanted to be found. And now that it has found new victims, the book will devour our souls if we're unlucky.

Akito: No, Prowl. We will make it out of this. One way or another.

Prowl: You know? I always admired that about you, Akito. You're the most optimistic person I've ever met.

Akito: I am just a hopeful girl. I got to live up to the family name.

[Prowl massages Akito's cheeks]

Prowl: And your family name is quite fitting to your personality.

Akito: Awe. Thanks, Prowl.

Vlad: I wonder... Will the sun rise?

Prowl: Not sure. Looks pretty cloudy.

Akito: And there doesn't seem to be any light so to speak of.

Vlad: So...

Prowl: So, there's no telling if the sun will rise or not. And even if it does, we still have to be careful. We don't know what's out there. Even in broad day light.

[Meanwhile, back with the others]

Fenrir: I think I picked up Akito's scent.

Joe: Really? Where?

Fenrir: This way.

[The group follows Fenrir to where he was leading them. And not long after, they finally find their missing comrades]

Akito: Master!

Fenrir: Akito! Prowl! Vlad! Are you guys okay?

Prowl: We are now.

Akito: Thank goodness you guys are here!

[Akito and Fenrir share a passionate hug]

Prowl: But... How did you guys get here?

Tozoku: We read a book called "Forest of Evil", it started glowing green, and then we ended up here.

Prowl: How ironic. That's exactly how WE ended up here in this... Nightmare...

Joe: The question is... How do we get out this nightmare?

Fenrir: That, I have no idea, Joe. But if there was a way in, then surely there has to be a way out. And if we get out of here alive, we must destroy the book. So that way no one else will fall victim to it.

Jasper: Let's get started!

Tozoku: But where do we start looking? This forest is like a maze! A maze where all kinds of monsters and demons are lurking!

Prowl: Yeah. We ran into some zombies as we came here.

Vlad: And killer trees!

Serena: If we're to survive this, we have to stay together.

Prowl: I agree, Serena. But until then, I suggest we remain here for tonight. This is the only safe place we could find. There's enough room for everybody.

Joe: Well, that sure is comforting. Considering what we've been through.

Typhoon: You got that right, mate.

[Meanwhile, back in Akito's mansion, Fluffy and Spot were finishing with the dishes. All of a sudden, Snuggles came into the room]

Snuggles: Bonjour, mis amis.

Fluffy: Oh, hey, Snuggles. What's up?

Snuggles: I can't find Akito anywhere. You know where she might have gone?

Spot: Funny... Just a short while ago, Fenrir came to us and asked the same thing.

Snuggles: Well do you know where she is? I haven't seen her all day!

Spot: They should be in the library.

Snuggles: Oh. Okay. Thanks guys.

[Snuggles leaves]

Fluffy: Ummm... Spot... I'm starting to worry about Akito... You sure she's okay? Nobody has seen her all day.

Spot: Perhaps we should go look for her. [Fluffy and Spot leave the kitchen, and catch up with Snuggles] Snuggles! Wait!

[Snuggles turns around to see Fluffy and Spot racing for him]

Snuggles: Oh?

Fluffy: Spot and I are concerned about Akito too. And we think we should all go look for her.

Spot: Yeah. Let's go to the library together.

Snuggles: Oui. Let's go then. [The three canomutants make their way over to the library to see a strange green glow] Sacre Bleu! What is that?

Spot: I got no clue.

[The three canomutants wander around the creepy and spooky woods in hopes of finding their friends]

Spot: You think they're okay, fellas?

Fluffy: (worried) I don't know, Spot. But I sure hope so. It won't be the same without them if they're dead.

Snuggles: Don't say stuff like that!

Spot: Yeah, it's too early to jump to conclusions right now, Fluffy.

Fluffy: Sorry, guys. I'm just so worried.

Snuggles: We're worried about them too, mon ami.

Spot: Wait... Quiet!

Fluffy: What?

Spot: Did you hear something?

[The three remained silent for a while. And then they saw something really strange. A blue ball of fire fell from the sky, and landed in front of them]

Canomutants: Huh?

[The blue flame then disappeared, and took the shape of a monstrous mutant dog with a scaly body, donning spiked wrist bands, body armor, armored shoes, a black speedo with a silver belt, and a spiked dog collar]

Fluffy: What the?!

Spot: What the heck is that?!

Snuggles: Careful, mis amis! I don't think its friendly!

[The monstrous canine stands up on both legs, and utters a deep sinister growling sound. And then he spoke in a deep monstrous tone of voice]

Demon Dog: Who dares to enter the realm of the damned? The Forest of Evil?

Fluffy: Should we answer him?

Spot: I have a question for you; just who in the hell are you? Some kind of demon?

Demon Dog: You guessed correctly, mortals. I am Daemon. Guardian of the nether realm, and watch dog of Scarface.

Spot: Wait... Who the heck is Scarface?

Fluffy: Good question.

Daemon: Scarface is one of my masters. And one of the generals of hell.

Snuggles: Generals of hell?

Daemon: Yes. And since you see fit to trespass into our domain, you have two choices; you can join us, or surrender your souls.

Fluffy: Surrender our souls? Never!

Daemon: Then you can join us!

[Daemon summons a ring of green fire and traps the trio]

Spot: Hey!

Snuggles: Sacre Bleu!

Fluffy: What's going on?! Let us out!

Daemon: Not until I make you three like me.

Canomutants: Huh?

Daemon: Can't you feel it? My essence is starting to flow into you. Embrace the darkness and fight alongside me, my fellow canines.

Fluffy: No! D... Don't do this!

Spot: We... Won't... Give... In!

Snuggles: Let... Us... Go!

Daemon: Don't struggle, you fools. You'll only make it worse for yourselves.

Spot: Akito... Where are you...?

[Daemon uses his dark powers to turn the canomutant trio into more feral, bestial, and hulkish versions of themselves, and robs them of their free will. They are now completely under his control]

Daemon: Welcome to the team.

[Daemon brings the three possessed canomutants back to his master, who is a black silhouette]

Mysterious figure: Looks like you've caught some fish in the water today, Daemon.

Daemon: Yes Master, and I got a feeling that there are more souls out there.

[The figure walks out of the darkness, and reveals himself to be a tall man standing 6ft in height, wearing a black trenchcoat, a red hankerchief, red eyes, a few facial scars, black hair, and wearing a black hat with a red stipe crossing it]

Mysterious Figure: Your feelings serve you well. Indeed, there are more souls out there. No doubt they are desperately struggling to survive the Forest of Evil. But what they don't realize is that they're in for a world of hell.

Daemon: Do you want me to collect their souls, Master Scarface?

[Scarface stood silent for a moment]

Scarface: By all means...

Daemon: Very well. Come along, you three. We got work to do.

[Meanwhile, Akito and her anthropomorphic friends were still hiding in the cave]

Akito: (sighs)

Prowl: What's the matter?

Akito: Nothing. I am just worried about what other dangers are out there.

Fenrir: I'm sure there are lots of other dangers out there in the woods. Many of which we haven't encountered yet.

Akito: That is what worries me.

Vlad: (whimpers)

Prowl: Shhh... Don't worry, Vlad. We're all together. (pats him on the shoulder)

Typhoon: We've got to get out of here.

Serena: That's what we're trying to do, Typhoon. But the question is "how" do we get out of here?

Jasper: Good question.

Joe: So what can we eat around here? I'm hungry.

Tozoku: Yeah. Me too.

Typhoon: Me three.

Jasper: Hang on.

[Jasper pull out a case filled with capsules from his speedo and then he takes one out and he tosses it onto to the floor. It emits smoke and when it died down, there was a gigantic fridge in front on them]

Serena: Alright, Jasper!

Fenrir: Let's see what's inside.

[Fenrir opens up the fridge, and sees all kinds of food inside]

Prowl: Now we're talking!

Fenrir: Alright! Take as much food as you can, everybody!

Vladimir: You got it!

[Everybody grabs themselves some food, and they all chow down]

Joe: (satisfied) Ahh... Quite refreshing.

Typhoon: I'll say. For a second I thought we were going to starve to death.

Serena: Speaking of which, that's made me curious. How were you able to make such things, Jasper?

Jasper: I'll tell you when we get home.

Joe: If we get home that is...

Akito: Don't say that! We will get home!

Fenrir: Be optimistic, Joe. Hope is what got us this far in the first place. It's called positive thinking.

Prowl: He's right, you know.

Joe: Okay, okay. I take it back, mates.

Fenrir: Good.

Typhoon: So what should we do now?

Fenrir: I suggest we all get some rest for now.

Tozoku: That sounds like a good idea to me.

Serena: Vlad doesn't seem to have the same idea... He's scared...

Akito: Let me handle that.

Vlad: (whimpering)

Jasper: If you need some help. I got something that might work.

Akito: It's okay, Jasper. I know what to do.

Jasper: Alright then.

Akito: Vlad...

Vlad: Yes Aki?

Akito: You're welcome. Get some sleep for now.

[Akito casts a spell that makes Vlad fall asleep]

Vlad: (snores)

Akito: That's my big bear. (pets him on the head)

Fenrir: Good work, Akito.

[And so Akito and Fenrir fall asleep in the cave along with the others. For a time, they remain safe from the dangers they've just confronted outside in the dangerous wood. Having been trapped inside the accursed book "Forest of Evil", they are now caught in a desperate struggle for survival. What other bizarre things will happen along the way?
